What forms of ID are acceptable for a notary?


In Florida, the most common form of satisfactory identification is a card or document like a U.S. passport or driver's license.


Any card that a state or federal government has issued and which contains the signature, photograph, and printed name of the person taking an oath will suffice.


However, the identification document has to be current, meaning it must have been issued in the past five years. 


But you cannot rely solely on documents, such as birth certificates or credit cards, to identify a person.
